Regular Meeting

October 11, 2021

 

The Farmerville Town Council met in regular session at Farmerville Community Center, located at 407 South Main Street, Farmerville, Louisiana, on October 11, 2021. The council members present were Mayor John Crow, Alderman  Robert Allen, Thomas Nation, Caroline Gatson, Ricky Johnikin, and Kerry Hill.

The roll was called and with a quorum present Mayor Crow called the meeting to order.  Invocation was offered by Rev. Lester Sims.

On motion by Gatson, seconded by Hill and unanimously approved to add item No 9 - Broadband to the agenda.

As state law requires, Town Clerk, Gay Nell Pepper, offered the public the opportunity to voice their opinion on all agenda items at this time. There were no comments.

On motion by Hill, seconded by Gatson and unanimously approved to approve the minutes from the September 13, 2021, regular meeting.

On motion by Nation, seconded by Gatson and unanimously approved to approve the payables from 

September, 2021.

On motion by Gatson,  seconded by Johnikin and unanimously approved to accept the monthly revenue and expenditure report for August as presented.

On motion by Gatson, seconded by Allen and unanimously approved to request Town Attorney, Joe Cusimano to draw up and ordinance to raise the garbage rates.

On motion by Johnikin, seconded by Nation and unanimously approved to authorize to amend the budget by adding $50,000 to Sewer Asset Purchases for a sewer by-pass pump and authorize to advertise for purchase.

On motion by Johnikin, seconded by Allen and unanimously approved to request quotes for repairs to Lift Station No 13.

On motion by Gatson, seconded by Hill and unanimously approved to authorize Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Workforce Program.

On motion by Hill, seconded by Allen and unanimously approved to authorize MML&H Engineering firm to proceed with planning for a potential turning lane on Railroad Street where it intersects with Hwy 2 E.

On motion by Allen, seconded by Gatson and unanimously approved to accept the recommendation of the selection committee to accept The Riley Company as engineer on our Water Sector Program.

On motion by Gatson, seconded by Nation and unanimously approved to confirm the following action taken by the Zoning Commission:

1.  To change the zoning classification on the property located at 9435 Hwy 33 belonging to Linda Albritton to R3.

On motion by Hill, seconded by Gatson and unanimously approved to authorize Mayor Crow to enter into an agreement with Union Parish Broadband Group.

There being no further business to come before the council this meeting was adjourned on this the 11th day of October, 2021, by Mayor Crow, upon motion by Gatson, seconded by Johnikin.
