Town of Farmerville Regular Meeting Minutes for February 2023

The Farmerville Town Council met in regular session at Farmerville Community Center, located at 407 South Main Street, Farmerville, Louisiana, February 13, 2023.  The council members present were Mayor John Crow, Alderman  Robert Allen, Thomas Nation, Caroline Gatson, Kerry Hill, and Ricky Johnikin. 

The roll was called and with a quorum present Mayor Crow called the meeting to order and invocation was offered by Oliver Neal.. 

As state law requires, Town Clerk, Gay Nell Pepper, offered the public the opportunity to voice their opinion on all agenda items at this time. There were no comments.

On motion by Gatson, seconded by Hill and unanimously approved to approve the minutes from January 9, 2023, regular meeting.

On motion by Allen, seconded by Nation and unanimously approved to approve the payables from January, 2023.

On motion by Gatson,  seconded by Johnikin and unanimously approved to accept the monthly revenue and expenditure report for December as presented.

On motion by Allen, seconded by Nation and unanimously approved to approve the following liquor license renewal:

Dollar General StoreClass “B” Retail Liquor

 

On motion by Allen, seconded by Gatson and unanimously approved to agree to supply Delta Community College with water and sewer to the proposed site at the end of Park Bay Drive if the site is chosen.

On motion by Allen, seconded by Gatson and unanimously approved to add funds from our ARPA account to budget for the following purposes:

 Boys and Girls Club Building Repairs and upgrades$   95,000

 Police Department Equipment (Pistols, Rifles, Shotguns)   $   18,000

Metal Building Repairs at Unity Park$   15,000

LS# 10$ 390,000

 

On motion by Allen, seconded by Hill and unanimously approved to authorize mayor to sign all necessary documents to procure the services of MML&H for the Planning and Design phase of the Lake D’Arbonne Mega Ramp Project.

On motion by Allen, seconded by Johnikin to agree to pay back-pay to the custodian of the Police Dog and to continue to pay Jordan Harris until the Chief of Police finds someone else to handle the dog.  The Chief has until August 1, 2023 to come up with a plan for the disposition of the dog.

There being no further business to come before the council Mayor Crow adjourned this meeting the 13th day of February, 2023.  Upon motion by Gatson, seconded by Hill and unanimously approved.
