Town of Farmerville Regular Meeting Minutes for January 2025
The Farmerville Town Council met in regular session at Farmerville Community Center, located at 407 South Main Street, Farmerville, Louisiana, January 13, 2025. The council members present were Mayor John Crow, Alderman Robert Allen, Caroline Gatson, Kerry Hill, Thomas Nation and Ricky Johnikin.
The roll was called and with a quorum present Mayor Crow called the meeting to order and invocation was offered by Keith Jeselink.
On motion by Allen, secondedl by Gatson and unanimously approved to add Item no 6-Land Purchase Request to the agenda.
As state law requires, Town Clerk, Gay Nell Pepper, offered the public the opportunity to voice their opinion on all agenda items at this time. There were no comments.
On motion by Gatson, seconded by Hill and unanimously approved to approve the minutes from December 9, 2024, regular meeting and December 30, 2024, special meeting.
On motion by Allen, seconded by Nation and unanimously approved to approve the payables from December, 2024.
On motion by Gatson, seconded by Johnikin and unanimously approved to accept the monthly revenue and expenditure report for November as presented.
On motion by Hill, seconded by Allen and unanimously approved to authorize the Mayor to sign contract for Hwy 33 DOTD Utility Relocation Project with Jabar Construction for $55,339.80.
On motion by Allen, seconded by Johnikin and unanimously approved to approve the following Liquor License renewals:
Farmily Dollar Class “B” Package Beer
Dollar General Class “B” Retail Liquor
On motion by Gatson to give $2,000 to the Black Heritage Committee, motion died for the lack of a second.
On motion by Allen, seconded by Nation and approved with one nay from Gatson to give the Black Heritage Committee $3000 for a sponsorship for the Union Black Heritge 32nd Annual Festivities to be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
On motion by Hill, seconded by Allen and unanimously approved to begin the process for land purchase request of 12 acres in our industrial park on Hwy 15 North. There being no further business to come before the council, Mayor Crow, declared this meeting adjourned this 13th day of January, 2025, upon motion by Gatson, seconded by Hill.
