Farmerville is a friendly, rural community with approximately 4,300 residents. Lake D’Arbonne is an absolutely beautiful 15,000 acre lake with great fishing year round.  We also have “stream fishing,” and our streams provide fishing at its best.  We are fortunate to have our State Park on Lake D’Arbonne with cozy, clean cabins, tennis courts, swimming pool, boat ramps, meeting rooms, and pavilions.  All of Union Parish is widely known for its hunting and outdoor recreation.

Farmerville has Lake D’Arbonne Country Club and Golf Course.  Honestly, it is the best maintained nine-hole course in Louisiana.  Downtown, you will find a well manicured Courthouse Square, antique shops, retail businesses, office buildings, banks, and restaurants.  You will also want to visit our up-to-date Union Parish Library.  Entering Farmerville via Hwy. 2 from Monroe, you will find shopping centers on either side of the highway.  Our largest industry is Foster Farms Chicken Processing Plant located on Hwy 15 North.  When it reaches full production, the plant should employ over 1300 people.  Our largest Festival is the Louisiana Watermelon Festival and Pageant held the last weekend in July each year.

Farmerville is the parish seat of Union Parish.  We are located in North Central Louisiana, twenty-one miles North of US I-20.  We have cool to moderately cold weather in the winter, and our summers are somewhat hot and humid – just what you would expect from this area.  Our terrain is hilly, and our pine trees are tall.

The Union Parish Chamber of Commerce has worked tirelessly to promote our parish, and we are now recognized as a “Designated Retirement Community”, the first in North Central Louisiana.

Farmerville is surrounded by three universities.  Grambling State University is only twenty-three miles away in Grambling, Louisiana; Louisiana Tech University is only twenty-one miles away in Ruston, Louisiana; the University of Louisiana Monroe is located in Monroe, Louisiana and only is thirty-four miles from Farmerville.

We really have it “pretty good” around here and invite you to “give us a look”.  You just might want to stay and become one of us and “THINK FARMERVILLE FIRST”.

Mayor M. Stein Baughman, Jr.
